On the other hand, bad fats, such as trans and saturated fats, not only lead to weight gain, but they can also increase a person's risk for certain illnesses and diseases. Eating the adequate amount of good fats can help individuals lose weight, while avoiding the bad fats. Monounsaturated fats found in foods like avocados, nuts, and olive oil contain essential nutrients for a healthy body. Polyunsaturated fats like those found in fatty fish, sunflower oil, and walnuts are also important components of a healthy diet. Omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids are essential fatty acids that provide a variety of health benefits and should be part of any weight loss plan. Lastly, trans and saturated fats, which are found in fried foods, processed snacks, and store-bought baked goods, should be minimized as much as possible.
