The Barrio Castrense occupies the center of the Alcazaba de la Ahambra, today it has the appearance of a ruin, but in Muslim times here were the houses of the garrison, where the soldiers who protected the Alhambra lived. In these ruins it is possible to see the typical layout of a Muslim house: entrance, small patio, surrounding rooms and latrine. Of all these houses it stands out, due to its larger size, almost three times that of the others and with a basin in the center, which must have been that of the garrison chief.
