Recipe Name: Onion Chutney
Preparation Time: 5 mins
Cook Time: 15 mins
INGREDIENTS:
Onion – 2 medium (Diced)
Chana Dal – 1 tbsp
Dry Red Chilly – 6 to 7
Salt – As per taste
Oil – 2 tbsp
Tamarind – lemon sized ball
For Tadka
Oil – 1 tbsp
Mustard Seeds – 1 tsp
Urad Dal – 1 tsp
Curry Leaves – 2 sprigs
PROCEDURE:
1. In a pan, heat oil and add chana dal and dry red chillies
2. Once the dal turns red, add the onions
3. Saute the onions until slightly brown
4. Switch off the stove and let it cool
5. Transfer the contents into a blender jar
6. Add tamarind and salt
7. Blend until you reach a smooth chutney consistency
8. For the tadka, add oil in a tadka pan
9. Once hot, add mustard seeds, urad dal and curry leaves
10. Pour on the chutney immediately
11. Serve with your favourite dosa variety or idlies
NOTES:
- The quantity of red chillies can be adjusted as per taste
- If needed, little water can be added while blending the chutney
