Topwater BFS Pickerel Fishing Micro Pencil/Stick Bait (Tsurinoya DW62 and DW64). Swapped off the treble hooks with some single hooks and did some major slaying for pickerels. So much easier to handle them as well! Missed a few and dropped a few, but as you can see it's not that bad and I landed plenty! Two more Episodes to come from this trip!

@gizmocarr30934 years agoraWr If you install your front hook with the bend facing forward; the hook will tangle less with the line. It also reduces the chances of snags; and often fish get hooked with both hooks. Using a smaller size split ring helps as well. I retrieve the lure with the rod tip close to the surface of the water. It helps reduce the effects of wind on the line and puts the rod in good position to make a hook set. I use a limber tip rod with strong backbone. Stiff action rods do provide more control over hooked fish. However; they also don’t cast as far; and when fish strike reduce fish from getting hooked on a tight line. Fish will often strike the lure repeated times; if you keep the lure working until they load up the rod you will miss fewer strikes. Great little lures aren’t they. ...2
